Hello! Im Cindy MacDonald, a visual artist who calls Toowoomba home, though my heart has roots both here and in the UK. My art bursts with vibrant colours and intricate details, and I hope it connects with you on an emotional level.

My love of nature, especially Australian Native Birds, is a big part of who I am and where my inspiration comes from, often reflecting back to a childhood I remember fondly. Combined with my faith, it is a constant source of subjects to paint. 

I am also drawn to the portrait, for me the human head is the most wonderful and fascinating subject to draw. My painting of my late Mumma, Nelia, a large oil portrait capturing her mesmerising presence, is probably my most compelling and favourite work to date.

My style is a blend of contemporary and traditional techniques. Ive always been drawn to the skill of Old Masters like Bouguereau and Sargent, as well as contemporary artists such as Richard Schmid. Because of them, I enjoy working primarily with oils, charcoal, and graphite, always experimenting and pushing my creative limits. Im actively involved in the local art scene here in Toowoomba, as a founding director of The Toowoomba Studio Art Trail and Drawn Away Retreats alongside  fellow artist and friend Jeanne Cotter. I have participated in many exhibitions, including: RME Downlands Art show, Fairholme Art Show, Ipswich Art Show, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, Recovery Futures.

My workshops are often fully booked, and I find great joy in encouraging others and showing them that they, too, can draw! Through my art, I aim to offer a new perspective on the beauty, emotion, and endless possibilities I see in the world around us.
