Making marks is my happy place. I love collaborating with others and helping their ideas to be seen, working across many genres, media and techniques. In my own practice I tend to make mixed media artworks –usually on silk. I love researching, learning from other people and embedding handwriting. I find that including, typed documents or even children’s early drawings in the artworks is so satisfying. Recently, I have done a deep dive into finding original handwritten lyrics of favourite songs and painting them to the music.

When I travel, whether overseas or to a national park a few kms away, I take a visual diary and do some lightning sketches in biro and watercolours. These often find their ways onto acrylic paintings on silk.

I draw, paint or embroider every day. It’s how I see the world, process my thoughts and feelings. Making marks is quite simply my happy place.
