Vicki Buttrose is a contemporary abstract artist based in the bushland of Pechey in regional Queensland. Her practice explores regeneration, light and the emotional resonance of place, drawing deeply from the changing landscape that surrounds her studio. Through layered acrylic, charcoal and gestural mark-making, she creates atmospheric works that invite stillness, reflection and a sensory connection to nature.
Working intuitively outdoors and in the studio, Buttrose responds to shifting light, seasonal growth and the structural rhythms of trees and leaves. Her paintings balance movement and calm, often revealing luminous spaces where forms dissolve and re-emerge. This approach reflects her interest in renewal — both environmental and personal — and her belief in art’s capacity to offer hope, grounding and quiet transformation.
A finalist in the Queensland Regional Art Awards, her work has toured regional galleries and been presented in solo exhibitions across the Darling Downs. Alongside her studio practice, Buttrose engages communities through collaborative projects and exhibition-based workshops that encourage creative confidence and connection to place.
Currently completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts, she continues to develop immersive botanical abstractions designed for contemporary interiors and collectors seeking artworks that bring presence, light and a sense of peace into lived spaces.
